Frequent Asked Questions:

1. Where are you located?

We are located at 1210 S Cashua Dr, Suite 8/9, in Florence, SC. We are located at Cashua Plaza and share space with Fyzical Therapy and Balance Center. We are next door to the nail salon.

2. What should I expect from my first appointment?

I like to start our first visit with getting to know you, how the injury and/or your symptoms are impacting you, any pertinent medical history/injuries, and the goals you would like our help with.

From there we will dive into your evaluation in which we will gently move through diagnostics, while simultaneously keeping open dialogue the entire time so you understand what is happening and why. A lot of times, an injury in a specific location (like shoulder), may be caused by a soft tissue restriction in a different location (like a pelvic imbalance). Therefore a full postural analysis is done as part of your evaluation. If we are seeing you for pelvic floor physical therapy, you may participate in an internal evaluation and treatment (if you are comfortable with it). I will usually evaluate you in standing and laying down, and often will start treatment right away.

3. What should I wear?

Treatment is done on skin, without barriers in between. For the evaluation and treatment portion of our visit we recommend that patients wear something comfortable and loose that will allow access to different areas of the body. Most patients will wear underwear, a 2 piece swimsuit (or swim trunks), or loose shorts and a sports bra. Tank tops with loose shorts work well too if you prefer to cover up a bit more. Please avoid using creams, lotions or oils in your skin prior to your appointment, and remove jewelry and watches.

4. What should I expect after my first appointment?

By the end of your first visit you will have answers on why you're experiencing pain or discomfort, what the root issue is,  a personalized program to work on to start making progress right away, and a clear game plan on how, together, we'll get you back on the path of doing the activities you love free of discomfort!

5. How long will it take?

Treatment duration varies from patient to patient, and is impossible to predict. Some patients only need 2-3 sessions, while some have needed 10 to 20.

Generally, treatment is done in 3 phases. Each take about 3-4 sessions (though some patients are known to have gone through them in 1 session, and some have required more):

1st we work on lengthening and releasing the restricted tissue

2nd we work on strengthening muscle and readjusting the tissue for proper / optimal functioning

Finally we get you back to activity, free of pain, discomfort, or symptom

6. How Often will I come?

Patients typically come once a week for the first few weeks, slowly phasing out to shorter frequencies as symptoms are resolved. That being said, patients with extremely acute and severe symptoms do benefit from coming for often (2-3 times a week), and we've had patients choose to come in a more intensive manner (3-4 times or week, or even multiple times a day) when trying to obtain faster healing in order to participate in an upcoming travel or important event.

7. Will I need a doctor referral?

South Carolina does not require a physician’s prescription to start our treatment, however, your insurance company will require a prescription from your physician. If you are planning to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, they will require a prescription from your physician for physical therapy that also includes the ICD 10 codes associated with your diagnosis.

8. Do you take my insurance?

I am out of network with most insurances, because unfortunately they don't let me work with clients the way I've found to be the most successful. With that being said, all of our patients have health insurance. Patients pay me with HSA and Flex account cards, regular credit cards, cash and check. What we do is to provide a superbill or special receipt that has all the information needed to submit to your insurance. In addition, I provide you with an app (Reimbursify) and it takes you less than a minute to submit these claims. Typically, patients are reimbursed between 50-90% depending on insurance and if they have out of network benefits, and have met their deductible. That being said, you must check with your insurance company to determine your “out of network benefits” for physical therapy, and their procedures. We are unable to guarantee any specific reimbursement.

9. What about medicare?

Medicare will cover your initial evaluation only. If you prefer to have your therapy 100% covered, we will refer you to another provider that will only work with covered interventions.

10. What is your cancelation policy?

All Clients must accept and agree to our reschedule policy - as failure to attend scheduled appointments not only disrupts your treatment progress, but also limits another patient's progress who may have been able to attend in your place. We usually schedule 1 to 2 weeks in advance and have patients on the waiting list hoping for earlier appointments. If you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment you MUST give us 48 hours notice.

Cancellations with less than 48-hour notice will result in 50% of your session charges, and failure to attend your appointment (no show) will require the 100% of your session charges.
